Steve did several jobs on a renovation of a garage workshop for us. He is a diligent and hard worker and we are very happy with his work. Definitely not a cowboy.

Our house had to be recladded from top to bottom. This was such a big undertaking but Steve and his team did a fantastic professional job and we were very pleased on completion. We were always kept in the loop with communication and reliability was great too. Would definitely recommend SRD Builders to anyone

Steven is a very capable builder, has a friendly manner and charges reasonable rates. As with anyone, a written quote should be obtained to avoid mis-understangings. He built a 6 bedroom house for me in 2009 which I am very happy with. It was built on time and to a fixed price. He has also underaken shower and double glazed window upgrades for me on a 1960's property that I am very pleased with. I recommend Steven as a builder.

Steve built a 6 x6 m garage / workshop to a fixed price budget for us. We are over the moon with the quality of the build and the service provided. We would highly recommend Steve to any of our friends.

Restricted building work in New Zealand must be carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner. Confirm they hold a current LBP licence - and check their licence class and any disciplinary history - on the LBP public register before you hire.

Check the LBP register
Never pay a large deposit up front. Agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow. Both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
