Contacted Martin at 9am to arrange the repair of a blown electrical switch for my hot water cylinder. Although busy, I left a message with details of the job. To his credit, Martin texted back nearly straight away that he was in a poor reception area, but could do the job about midday. That arranged, I organised a neighbour to provide access. Martin appeared on time and replaced the switch. Thank you - that sort of service deserves to be acknowledged publicly. He is now on my contact list for

I'm a builder and I've used Mainstream Electrical quite a few times now. I'd recommend Martin and his team to anyone. They turn up on time, are knowledgable, do a great job and are just really pleasant guys to deal with. Cheers Martin.

Martin did an excellent job of sorting out various electical issues at our Parnell property including replacement of a pump for an outdoor water feature, replacement of transformers etc. He was easy to communicate with, reliable and at an hourly rate of $52 we thought he was good value for money. Would strongly recommend.

Electrical work in New Zealand must be carried out by a registered electrical worker. Confirm they are registered and hold a current practising licence on the Electrical Workers Registration Board public register before you hire.

Check the EWRB register
In New Zealand, restricted building work must be carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner, and all electrical, plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying by a licensed tradesperson (EWRB for electricians, PGDB for plumbers and gasfitters). Check the public register before you hire.
For residential building work of $30,000 or more you are legally entitled to a written contract and a disclosure statement setting out the tradesperson's skills, licences and insurance. Ask for both before work starts.
Look for consistent reviews across several named sources, not one polished profile.
