Highlights

Gary and his team are brilliant. They moved a small cottage from Raumati to the Wairarapa for me and they were just awesome. They took great care with the house, the site and surrounds and did a great job. Highly recommend to anyone interested in shifting a house to a new site. Cheers guys

I was very nervous, as it was such a big job. However, all worked out well and really, I can't fault their work. Restricted building work in New Zealand must be carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner. Confirm they hold a current LBP licence - and check their licence class and any disciplinary history - on the LBP public register before you hire.

Check the LBP register
Never pay a large deposit up front. Agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow. Both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
