They kept in contact with me regularly while we were waiting for the builder to be available to install my dishwasher. They were very friendly and obliging, and did a great job.

I hired Barry Dell Plumbing to work on my bathroom, and the experience was highly disappointing. The plumber they sent capped off the pipes without verifying the integrity of the caps, which resulted in a severe water leak causing extensive damage to my downstairs ceiling. Upon discovering the leak, I called the plumber back, who confirmed that the cap had a manufacturing defect. Despite initial assurances from the company that they would fix it, they have since refused to take responsibility,

I was absolutely shocked at how much this company charged. I challenged it and ended up getting quite a defensive and somewhat condescending phone call from the plumber who did the work. My understanding is that plumbing businesses shouldonly charge you for the time that they are on site but Barry Dell Plumbers appear to use every opportunity to round up their hours. I certainly won't be using them again and recommend others engage smaller operators with lowrr overheads.

Company was recommended to inspect (CCTV) and unblock a stormwater drain. I was told the CCTV was used to inspect drain but they were unable to unblock the drain or resolve the issue. I was still charged $400. Maybe shop around or check Google reviews of other local companies. Wish I'd seen these review prior to giving them the go ahead to do the job.

Avoid. This plumbing firm is prohibitively expensive, consistently over estimates the time spent on any job and has management who tell prospective customers that they are doing them a favour by not charging them for a quote. My advice for anyone unfortunate enough to be working for this firm is; Find another job, the sooner the better.

Would not recommend using this company. Their invoice was outrageous...The two employee that turn up on the job twice did not achieve anything. I have been charged $99-00 gst for a drain camera usage that did not even made it more than a foot down the drain because of an elbow. They tried very hard and once told them if they pursue this they will wreck it for good. I had to convince the account lady that I will not pay for something that did not work. (invoice was then reduced) There hourly

Barry Dell Plumbing is a complete rip off I would not recommend them to any one unless you want to take out a second mortgage. I had 10 minutes work done on two separate occasions which involved a drain rod down the boundary trap and then they left which i witnessed first hand my property is 5 mins drive from the office they where there for 10 minutes on both occasions total cost first bill 90 dollars second bill 115 not even consistent on the billing they just over charge what they feel

In New Zealand, most plumbing and drainlaying work, and all gasfitting, is restricted to licensed tradespeople. Check the person doing the work holds a current licence on the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board public register before you hire.

Check the PGDB register
Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top, in writing, before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced. Get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
Gas and boiler work is a separate, regulated trade, not general plumbing. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance is specifically registered to do gas work, and ask to see that registration before they start.
